A Hidden Treasure for Active Adults on the Treasure Coast

The Cascades at St Lucie West

If you are doing a 55+ Active Adult search for a home on The Treasure Coast, you are sure to notice that there are quite a few to choose from—many of which are newly developed communities. One that has stood the test of time and that sometimes gets overlooked is the beautiful Cascades of St Lucie West

As you are accompanied by your realtor, (the only way to gain access to see this great community) the first thing you’ll notice is the beautifully landscaped waterfall entrance and attractive, manned guard gate. Once through the gate, you are greeted by a gorgeous main boulevard, shaded by mature Oaks. Immediately to your right, you’ll see the entrance to the 26,000 square ft, recently remodeled Clubhouse and 17acre Recreation Facility.

A drive through the parking lot reveals beautifully maintained & lighted Tennis Courts, Pickleball Courts, Bocce and Shuffleboard areas, and a 9-hole, manicured Golf Course. Tucked behind the Clubhouse is a huge, heated & cooled Resort-style Swimming Pool, plus a Tiki Bar area and Heated Spa. Residents can enjoy a relaxing swim or more energetic Water Aerobic Classes. On your way to the pool, you will pass the entrance to the well-equipped Fitness Area and Dance/Yoga studio.

The Clubhouse itself welcomes you with a grand foyer/ Reception area where residents can meet and chat

Off both sides of that reception area are hallways lined with a Media/Computer room for the technically inclined, a peaceful library for those that still prefer getting lost in a good book, several card rooms where a multitude of clubs gather for various games of Poker, Dominoes, Maj Jong, Canasta, Bridge and SO many more. The Arts and Craft room, which includes ceramics and a kiln, is usually bustling with activity. There are also Men’s and Women’s saunas and a Billiards room. Last, but certainly not least, is a beautiful Grand Ballroom for Club Meetings, Social Gatherings, Dances, Movies and a stage for Entertainment.

As you continue your drive through the community of 1158 Mediterranean style Homes with Tile Roofs and Paver drives, you will see maturely landscaped homes ranging from 1257 square feet of living to 2550+ square feet of living and a minimum of 2 Car Garages. Most of these homes back to one of the many Beautiful Lakes or Preserve Areas where residents enjoy watching a great variety of birds including waterfowl of all sorts. Let’s not forget to watch the turtles swimming and fish jumping as well as squirrels and bunnies scampering about.

This beautiful community was built out between 2001-2005, and today the only way to purchase is to buy a resale home. Prices range mostly from the low 200’s – high 300’s depending on the varying amount of updating & remodel, with the occasional large home with 3 car garages breaking the $400,000 mark. When compared with many of the newly built 55+ communities that have lot premiums, upgrade costs and sometimes multiple HOA fees and special CDC assessments added to the taxes, buyers can quickly see why in 2018 The Cascades of St Lucie West was voted #2 in the country for VALUE in a 55+ community, and the reasons for that hold true even more in today’s real estate market.

The Cascades of St Lucie West is also located virtually in the center of St Lucie West. In any direction, you are literally 5-10 minutes to World Class Golf Courses, Met’s Stadium (Clover Park) for Major League Spring Training and Minor League games, and all sorts of shopping including Publix Grocery, Home Goods, Burlington, Steinmart, Ross, Chicos, Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and so many more. There is also an abundance of restaurants–both large chains and small Mom & Pop establishments for your dining pleasure.

So—is there a downside to purchasing in The Cascades?

The only one I can think of is that at any given time there is not an abundance of resales available for purchase. So, if you want to take advantage of the Value in the Hidden Treasure in The Cascades of St Lucie West—you need to be sure to Explore the Possibilities it has to offer!
